This book was the worst book I have ever read. I've seen this book in my school library and town library plenty of times, and have wanted to get it very badly. But my mom said no. When it was announced that the next book for my book club was the first book of Dear Dumb Diary, I was super excited. Since this is a mother daughter book club, my mother and I would read every night and talk about it. We both agreed that this book was horrible for young girls to read. Jamie, the main character, was to focused on Angeline. I couldn't go one page without reading about Angeline. If Jamie talked more about things that don't have to do with being popular, stealing somebody's lip balm flavor, etc, this might have been a half a star series. I didn't like how she was mean to everyone. She was comparing people on a popularity meter. Calling people losers and dorks? That is really mean. That is not what any child at any age should be calling someone. If you are a parent and are looking at this book for your child, DO NOT get it. If you are a girl looking to buy this book, DO NOT. This book is a very bad influence. The reason I'm giving this book a star is because the rating has to have a star review. If I was writing this on paper, I would give it no stars. Also, there were other people in my book club, mom's and daughters, who didn't like the book, and we all found different reasons why it was bad.

My daughter, 8, loved this book, she read 11 chapters the first day!!! Granted, she is gifted, so it may not be easy reading for all 8 year olds, but probably not a big deal for 10+. It nailed her humor right on the head - she was laughing and telling me all about how funny the main character was. I bought her the next 5, and she hasn't stopped reading!

FYI - its probably not fine literature, but I feel that anything that keeps a child reading is good reading. It solidifies the love of books!
My daughter read this book and loved it. She read it quickly and laughed throughout. It was an easy and entertaining read and she really enjoyed the funny illustrations. It kept her attention and she recommends it to her friends all the time and she has already read several others in the series. She is hooked!

Product was awesome and came super fast (thank you prime). I bought this book for my niece's 8th birthday as it was one of my favorite grade school books. All was well except the cover was bent a bit but I don't think she will mind. Awesome seller.

My 10 year old grand daughter and I love this series. The writer is so funny. We take turns reading aloud to each other and every time we end up laughing so hard we can't stop! Great reading for any preteen girl.
I ordered this book for my 7-year old daughter who loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid very much. I didn't like the word "dumb" in the title but decided to over-look it after reading an available page. I thought that my daughter could relay to the character because she is a girl. However, the book is simply mean - has mean references to class mates, basically hates this one popular girl and is full of words that 7-year old shouldn't be using. I guess it's my fault - this book is definitely to early but I would not have ordered this book even for a middle-schooler. I feel that this book is full of verbal bullying. Very disappointing.
