This book is a great primer on the principles of the most gorgeously abstract discipline in origami -- tessellations, repeated patterns in paperfolding that result in a flat planar surface. The pictures are wonderful and illustrate many of the basic ideas, and the directions are clear and will give anyone the grounding they need to branch off on their own and design new tessellations based on the building blocks this volume teaches. The instructions are also clear, and Gjerde is careful to warn the newbie about any pitfalls particular to a diagram.

I can recommend this book to anyone -- but just make sure to purchase some mulberry paper before you open the book, because your fingers will start to itch the minute you finish it!

A collection of beautiful pieces that challenge and inspire one to study the folds and be creative! Well done for a genre whose information is very hard to find!
Origami tessellations is a complex subject, there are not many books dealing with it. This book is simply beautiful, even the simplest projects are wonderful, the book has excellent diagrams and good photography. The author has made a great job explaining how to fold tessellations. Since every project requires a good deal of creasing and folding the buyer must have in consideration that this book is for the experienced origamist.
HOly cow - the photos in this book are some of the BEST ever in showcasing the steps for the folds and the photos of the finished works are mind-bogglingly beautiful. HIGHLY recommend this book!!!!
The instructions are very clear. The diagrams are helpful. The book nicely progresses from simple to more complicated examples. I have used the examples in this book to help with complicated folds in other projects where I had been having problems.
I saw this book from the /r/origami subreddit being recommended around by the user base and boy were they right for recommending it. It's a great collection of tessellations that are really challenging and fun to make.
This is a great addition to any origami library. It is preferred I suspect, to have some experience and moderate understanding of origami and tesselations. The directions are clear and well articulated. The pitures provided give a better understanding of the various processes you follow while folding your models. The projects go from front to back in a progressive mannor; beggining, intermediate, and finally advanced. The models are created both by the author Eric Gjerde, and several other masters of the study. I strongly reccomend this book. For the price I consider it a bargain, it is a treasure.
As a mathematician who dabbles in art, this book was a welcome addition to my library. But you don't need to be good at math to appreciate the art or to make it.

The designs are made from a variety of different papers. Often the back of the design is just as interesting as the front. The pictures are beautiful, showing off the texture of the designs and of the papers used to fold them.

The instructions are detailed. There are several basic types of folds that are explained. More complex folds are built on that foundation. As you might expect, there are diagrams for folding each design. But there are also photographs showing each project in various stages of completion.
